At the Jackson Mann Elementary
School students have the opportunity to learn healthy strategies for
solving problems, managing their anger and maintaining a positive view
of themselves. Additionally, families can receive the support of a LOT
Counselor as they identify and problem-solve behavioral issues of

leadership and mentoring skills. Youth Leaders are given the chance to
practice their skills by serving as group assistants, personal student

Family Involvement Initiative (FII)
The
Family Involvement Initiative (FII) provides families with a sense of
school membership, serves as a resource for school and community
information, and provides families with a space where they can
strengthen their voice regarding areas of concern about youth.
In
addition to monthly workshops designed to address areas of interest
raised by families, the FII holds weekly classes, using the Second Step
Violence Prevention Curriculum for Parents© in response to the
concerns many families have, regarding behavior management and violence
amongst youth.
Counseling Services
In
addition, and as needs dictate, LOT Academy offers traditional school
based counseling services such as child assessments, family
meetings/follow-up, resource and active referral connections to
community providers, short term individual and group therapy.
